Numinous.

Some people cannot leave their home, homesickness becomes their friend otherwise; they just do not love to be away. Some other people long to be somewhere they have never been before. Their home is their roads, their routes…

As to me, I am in-between these two type of people I observed in my personal life. I realized recently that even though I always long to be somewhere I had never been before, I also love the feeling of coming home since coming home implies going away again to me. Also, the idea of ‘home’, which can be anywhere in the world, makes me feel safe. I do not want to be always on the road. No, that is not so my type. Even though I happen to away for one year or more, I know I will want somewhere to return. However, if I stay too much in the same place, I want to escape.

I am in love with this vicious circle of mine; it adds fun, excitement, knowledge…

As you can see, what attracts me is the idea of being a tourist, the feeling of seeing different things for the first time, tasting foods (especially beers), enjoying Nature and feeling the numinous. The reason I named my blog ‘afterthenuminous’ comes from this desire. It comes from Latin and means appealing to the higher emotions or to the aesthetic sense, spirituality and mystery. I think it is similar to the feeling of sublime.

For me the numinous is the feeling of universality as if you are one with the universe. Some thing, some place, some particular moment with or without someone, the music playing in the background, the taste in your mouth, the view, the smell… The perfect moment that you remember for a long time.

I believe everyone has these magnificent moments. I aim to share my numinous moments in this blog, which are mostly related to traveling, spreading them in this world that which suffocates us sometimes with its roughness.

P.S: The image is there because it was a perfect moment of mine. Leaving work, the evening weather of calm Valencia, relaxed consciousness, doing what you love in the age of 22…
